Evans Oppong is reportedly one of four students apprehended in the United States for allegedly forging high school transcripts.
The four accused individuals were enrolled at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, having gained admission by allegedly forging their senior high school transcripts to inflate their academic records.
According to Graphic, based on the allegedly falsified transcripts, three of the students received substantial financial support totaling $212,933, $127,213, and $129,244, respectively.
The four individuals—Evans Oppong, Otis Opoku, Cyrilstan Nomobon Sowah-Nai, and Henry Dabuo—are facing serious charges of forgery and theft of services and are currently detained on a $100,000 bail. Additionally, reports indicate that a complaint against Oppong, who gained admission through a scholarship program, is still under review. Preliminary court hearings are set to take place next week, on September 24, 2024.
It was reported that an investigation was initiated after Lehigh University flagged the transcript of Jude Dabuo, Henry Dabuo’s older brother, due to several inconsistencies and errors. Upon further examination, the Admissions Office discovered similar discrepancies not only in Henry Dabuo’s transcript but also in the applications of the three other students involved in the case.
The four individuals are reportedly being held on $100,000 bail, and their friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist in financing their legal defense.
